Recent projects for agricultural product manufacturers have included data collection and focus groups and conference recruitment. The project goals have been
measurement of ROI, measurement of product adoption factors, market share analysis, evaluation of marketing initiatives, and evaluation of proposed marketing initiatives.
Project: Wheat producers “common terms” market research
Specifics: Gather information and evaluate the type of terms to use in a new marketing campaign focused at herbicide use on wheat. All answers to open-ended questions were captured verbatim in the AOS CATI system. Data was coded to provide client with the most frequently used terms for a soon to be launched marketing initiative.
Project: Nursery and greenhouse product usage market research
Specifics: This project entailed interviewing owners and managers of nursery and greenhouse operations for a major seed and fertilizer manufacturer. The study focused on evaluating product usage relating to several areas of ornamental plant production, including fertilizers, pesticides, and soil mixes. Each prospect was asked a series of up to 54 questions regarding product usage, rates, frequency of purchase, and yearly product consumption.
Project: Recruitment of a wide range of agricultural producers for focus group participation
Specifics: Recruitment of producers for focus groups discussing risk management policies and tools. Prospects were prescreened based on operation size, crop types and location. Producers recruited for participation in this focus group included: vegetable, livestock, pasture grass, nursery, greenhouse, hay silage, fruits, nuts, berries and row crops. A total of 70 conferences were conducted totaling 600 participants segmented into 35 separate groups.
Project: Recruitment of soybean producers for participation in peer-to-peer teleconference series.
Specifics: The recruitment of growers into teleconferences to discuss the management practices and uses of herbicides on soybeans. Prospects were prescreened based on acreage and product usage for participation in one of four distinct group meetings. Each teleconference was focused on specific areas based upon participant’s answers to the conference screeners.
