Project: Awareness, prevalence and
treatment of hyponatremia patients
Specifics:
In-depth interviews conducted with 530 hospitalists,
endocrinologists, nephrologists, and intensivists
regarding the treatment of hyponatremia in their
hospitalized patients. The 30-40 minute interview
focused on the physician’s knowledge of condition,
causes, co-morbid complications, effectiveness and
satisfaction with various treatment modalities and the
potential for new pharmaceuticals in development.
Project: Influenza prevalence
tracking study 2003-04
Specifics:
Conducted 10,000 interviews nationwide for a major
influenza tracking study from November 2003 through
March 2004. Interviews were conducted on a bi-weekly
basis with 1,000 households nationwide. The focus of the
study was to obtain influenza incidence data regionally
and nationally. 15-20 minute interviews were conducted
with households currently with an influenza sufferer.
Those interviews explored their severity of symptoms,
awareness of OTC treatments and usage of influenza
vaccinations.
Project: Breast cancer hormonal
therapy treatment tracking study
Specifics:
Conducted 1,200 in-depth interviews with 150 Medical
Oncologists each quarter over a two-year period. This
study focused on the use of hormonal therapy in the
management and treatment of their breast cancer
patients.
Project: Management and treatment
of patients with OAB
Specifics:
Interviews were conducted with 900
Urologists and Urogynecologists regarding the treatment
and management of their overactive bladder patients. The
30-minute in-depth phone interview focused on current
prescribing habits and market potential for new OAB
medications.
Project: Pharmaceutical customer
service satisfaction study
Specifics:
Conducted
interviews with consumers, physicians, pharmacists and
nurses that had made a recent call to the customer
service, medical affairs, or patient assistant service
department of a major pharmaceutical manufacturer. 600
phone interviews were conducted with each target group
on a bi-annual basis. The 15-minute interviews focused
on circumstances which necessitated the call, the
customer’s attitudes and opinions regarding the service
they received, and their overall satisfaction with the
process.
Project: Factors influencing
physician’s writing of anti-viral scripts
Specifics:
500 physicians were interviewed regarding factors
influencing their anti-viral script writing practices
The interview focused on the following topics: frequency
of writing anti-viral scripts, dosage recommendations,
use of generic substitutes and factors influencing the
writing of scripts for specific brand name drugs.
Project: Non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory (NSAID) drug, physician brand loyalty
study
Specifics:
The study focused on the writing of NSAID [Non-steroidal
anti-inflammatory drug] scripts and a physician’s
loyalty to a particular manufacturer’s brand or
generics. This four-part survey of 1,200 physicians was
conducted over a six-month period with each being
surveyed every 4-6 weeks. In addition, the project
included a follow-up questionnaire mailed to
participants. This paper survey was then returned for
data entry and compilation.
Project: Physician survey on
therapeutic issues relating to bacterial infections
Specifics:
The project involved conducting physician surveys on
therapeutic issues and prescribing habits in the
treatment of bacterial infections. This program was
conducted using CATI in conjunction with workstation
internet T-1 data connection for direct input into
clients web based data collection site.
Project: Physician opinion survey
on the use of in-home defibrillators
Specifics:
360 physicians were interviewed regarding the use of
in-home defibrillators and their opinions on writing
scripts for an in-home device. The respondents were
segmented into three groups by specialty to include
cardiologists, family practice and internal medicine
physicians.
Project: Survey regarding
antibiotic decision making in the hospital setting
Specifics:
45-minute in-depth interviews were conducted with
physicians and healthcare professionals affiliated with
sixty 200+ bed hospitals, regarding their antibiotic
decision making practices. The study was segmented to
include physicians from the following specialties:
family practice, infectious disease, general practice,
emergency medicine, internal medicine and hospitalists.
This study also included interviews with other
healthcare professionals including: pharmacy directors,
clinical pharmacists and nurse supervisors.
Project: Patient study of
Hepatitis-C and HIV co-infection treatment practices
Specifics:
The objectives of this study were to gain a better
understanding of approaches and medications used in
treating Hepatitis-C. 140 physicians specializing in
infectious disease, hepatology and gastroenterology were
recruited for participation in this study. Each
physician was shipped study documents, which were then
returned for data entry and compilation.
Project: Physician survey on
injectable antibiotic use in hospitalized patients
Specifics:
The project entailed the recruitment and surveying of
family practice, general practice, internist and
infectious disease physicians. The study focused on
their use of injectable antibiotics to treat various
infectious diseases such as community acquired
pneumonia, sepsis, osteomyelitis, etc.
Project: Pharmaceutical help line,
quality assurance market research survey
Specifics:
1,200 surveys were conducted with physicians, nurses and
patients regarding a major pharmaceutical manufacture’s
help line. The focus of the study was to obtain opinion
data on the company’s customer service and
responsiveness to inquiries in the previous 6 months.
Project: Nationwide HIV/AIDS
therapy selection study
Specifics:
450 physicians nationwide were interviewed, regarding
influences on their decisions in the selection of
therapy for their HIV/AIDS patients, at the local,
regional and national levels. Physicians were recruited
and screened for participation in this study based on
the criteria that they treat a minimum of 100 HIV/AIDS
patients annually.
Project: Study of Non-Hodgkin
lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia patients
Specifics:
The recruitment of 200 hematology oncologists and
medical oncologists to participate in a study of
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia
patient treatment protocols. All physicians were
screened for specific numbers of patient types within a
specified study period.
Project: Study of common
illnesses, treatment protocols and roles of various
healthcare professionals in the nursing home environment
Specifics:
The study surveyed nursing home directors regarding
patient’s condition, medications, side effects,
hospitalizations, treatment protocols and other similar
issues. In addition, data was collected regarding the
facility, such as total beds, number of staff members
and the roles of various healthcare professionals.
